[Photo] ‘Bambi on ice’ – Mesut Ozil ‘likes’ Instagram post mocking Arsenal team mate
Mesut Ozil has caused a stir online after ‘liking’ an Instagram post that mocked Danny Welbeck and labelled the striker ‘Bambi on ice’.
Ozil played a key role in helping Arsenal get back on track after laying on two superb assists for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey at the San Siro last night.
The 2-0 first leg win ensured Arsenal put one foot in the quarter finals of the Europa League and lifted the mood around the camp following reports of dressing room bust-ups in recent days.
However, Welbeck may have a quiet word in Ozil’s ear as the German playmaker has liked an Instagram post that poked fun at the England international striker.
Welbeck started up front in the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette last night and while he put in a hard working display, it was another frustrating evening in front of goal.
The closest he came to scoring was in the second half when a poor clearance from Franck Kessie gifted Welbeck a one-on-one with Gianluigi Donnarumma but the Milan keeper did enough to block the ball off Danny and the rebound went wide for a goal kick.
An Arsenal fan shared a video of the incident on Instagram and suggested that had the ball gone in, the goal would have summed up Welbeck’s career and used the hashtag #BambiOnIce.
The post went viral and it seems Ozil agreed with the Arsenal supporter as the post was ‘liked’ by Mesut’s official Instagram page m10_Official.
To be fair, I think we can all agree that the goal would have summed up Welbeck’s career at Arsenal and he has regularly looked like Bambi on ice so it’s no surprise Ozil liked the post.
No doubt it was just a bit of fun and Mesut wasn’t having a serious pop at Welbeck. Another feud among the players is the last thing we need right now.
