[Photo] Arsenal chief snapped at Dortmund airport as Gunners close-in on Aubameyang
Arsenal first team coach Jens Lehmann has been snapped at Dortmund airport as we close-in on a proposed deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
We’ve been strongly linked with the Borussia Dortmund hitman this month after Arsene Wenger identified him as the man to replace Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez.
Aubameyang has teased on social media that he wanted to come to London while the Mirror reported yesterday that we’d agreed personal terms with the 28-year-old over a move to North London.
Coincidentally, those reports emerged on the same day that former Dortmund keeper and currently Arsenal coach Jens Lehmann was spotted at the Dortmund airport in Germany.
Arsenal fan Dom Crofts sparked a frenzy on social media after first posing for a photo with Aubameyang while wearing an Arsenal scarf during a media event in Dortmund.
Understandably, Crofts asked the striker about whether he is joining Arsenal and claims he was left with the impression a move will happen after the striker gave him a broad grin.
To add to the speculation, Crofts then bumped in to Lehmann at the airport and shared a photo with the Arsenal man on Twitter.

THIS MAN. Now I may be adding two and two together & coming up with five, but I’d say that – given what else has happened today – an ex-Dortmund keeper & Arsenal coach flying back from Germany pretty much confirms there is some serious Aubameyang stuff on the horizon. #afc pic.twitter.com/uO23FF0RII

Who knows why Lehmann was in Germany but obviously his presence in Dortmund is only going to fuel rumours about Aubameyang joining Arsenal this month.
The former goalkeeper has been working closely with Arsene this season and regularly sits next to him on the bench during games so perhaps the club have enlisted his help to land Aubameyang due to his relationship with Dortmund.
I would welcome the move as the Gabon international is a world class striker who scored 40 goals last season and already has 21 to his name this campaign so he’d provide a much-needed threat up front.

He might have been in Germany to look at Timo Horn!
