Europa League Draw: Arsenal handed trips to Belarus, Germany & Serbia
The draw for the group stages of the Europa League was conducted this afternoon and Arsenal have been drawn in Group H along with BATE Borisov, FC Köln and FK Crvena Zvezda [Red Star Belgrade].
We dropped in to the Europa League for the first time in 20 years after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season so this is uncharted territory for many of the players.
We are joint favourites to win the trophy along with AC Milan but to get out of the group stages we’ll have to see off BATE Borisov of Belarus after they beat FC Oleksandria in the play-offs.
We’ll also be heading to Germany to take on Lukas Podolski’s former club FC Köln while we also got Serbian giants and former European Champions Red Star Belgrade – who are now known as FK Crvena Zvezda.
Only Arsenal could pick out a European champions from Pot 4 of the Europa League. Belgrade was probably the toughest of the Pot4 teams to get but overall it’s a decent group which we should win easily.
