Arsenal told they can sign attacker for £53m as player pushes for move

By on July 10, 2017

According to a report in Tribalfootball, Monaco have made it clear they would be willing to sell Thomas Lemar to Arsenal for £53m as the attacker continues to push for a move to the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger has already spent big to land striker Alexandre Lacazette while left-back Sead Kolasinac has also arrived on a free transfer from Schalke this summer.

However, the boss is seemingly keen to further strengthen his attacking options as he looks to build a title-winning squad and Lemar has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks.

After seeing opening offers worth £35m and £40m rejected, the Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Arsenal were ready to test Monaco’s resolve with a third bid worth £45m rising to £50m including add ons.

But it seems we may have to dig a little deeper as Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has been quoted by Tribalfootball as saying that Monaco have said they will do business if we pay £53m for the winger.

It’s not clear whether the Ligue 1 champions want the full £53m up front or if they’d be prepared to accept a deal that includes additional add ons but it looks like we’re not a million miles away from meeting their valuation and the report says Lemar is pushing for a move to north London.

These latest reports come after The Sun reported late last week that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with the attackers agents worth £90,000-a-week and are now just trying to thrash out a fee with Monaco.

Lemar would be a superb addition to the squad if we could get a deal agreed as he’s one of the most exciting attackers in European football after playing a key role in helping Monaco win the title last season.

The French international scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists last season so he’d certainly add some creativity to our attack and at just 21, he still has plenty of time to develop even further under the tutelage of Wenger.

Let’s wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I have a feeling we might just get a deal agreed for Lemar before the summer is over.
