Arsenal to splash the cash as Wenger eyes big-money double swoop

By on July 10, 2017

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol via the Express, Arsenal remain keen on pulling-off a sensational double swoop on Monaco for Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar.

Arsene Wenger has already been busy in the transfer market with Sead Kolasinac first arriving on a free transfer from Schalke before we broke our club record to snap-up striker Alexandre Lacazette last week.

However, it appears the boss is still keen to further strengthen his attacking options and widespread speculation has linked us with two of Monaco’s key players in recent weeks.

Mbappe is the hottest talent in world football right now after scoring 24 goals and setting up another 14 to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season and Solhekol has told Sky Sports [via the Express] that Arsenal remain in the hunt for his signature.

However, the journalist says that we’ll face stiff competition from Real Madrid and PSG for the 18-year-old in what would be a world record deal for whoever ends up winning the race for his signature.

And it could be a sensational double swoop on Monaco as Solhekol says we’re also keen to sign winger Lemar after watching him score 14 goals and provide 17 assists last season.

The Sun reported recently that we’d agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old while the Daily Mail says Arsenal are ready to submit an improved offer worth £45m rising to £50m with add ons for the attacker.

Solhekol said on Sky Sports.

“What about incomings at Arsenal, could they bring in more players?”

“They’re still in for Thomas Lemar from Monaco and they haven’t given up on a big-money move for his team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

“PSG are willing to give Mbappe a pay rise of more than 1000 per cent. He’s currently on £16,000-a-week, PSG offering him £200,000-a-week for an 18-year-old.

“Real Madrid favourites to sign him for a world-record fee but he remains a top Arsenal target.”

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but obviously it would be unbelievable if Arsenal were able to sign Mbappe and Lemar this summer.

However, I don’t see it happening unless there is at least one high profile departure and I’m willing to bet good money Alexis Sanchez would be the man to leave if we’re successful in signing the Monaco duo.

Our Chilean super star is still to sign a new deal and there’s been constant speculation linking him with a move away so if we do buy Lemar and Mbappe I think we’ll see Sanchez leave – let’s just hope it’s not to Man City.
