[Player Ratings] Saints 0-2 Arsenal: Mustafi & Xhaka shine
Arsenal secured a HUGE 2-0 win at Southampton this evening thanks to second half goals from Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.
Here are my ratings:
Cech 7/10 | Great save to deny Gabbiadini midway through the first half and another to tip a Redmond effort over the bar.
Holding 7/10 | Another composed display from the young centre-back.
Mustafi 7.5/10 | Last ditch tackle to put off Tadic when through on goal and filled-in superbly for Koscielny in the middle of the back three.
Monreal 6.5/10 | Looks comfortable in the back three but his passing was a little wayward tonight.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 7/10 | Was our best player during the opening 30 minutes before limping off with another hamstring injury.
Ramsey 7/10 | Lovely header to set-up Giroud for the second goal. Didn’t stop working for the team. Solid display overall.
Xhaka 7.5/10 | Played his part in the build-up to the goal and once again dictated play from the middle of the park. Good form continued.
Gibbs 6.5/10 | Got in to some decent positions but his touch and final ball let him down once again.
Özil 7/10 | Lovely ball to set up Sanchez for the opener and instigated several attacks with some fine passing.
Alexis 7.5/10 | Superb skill to open the scoring with a wonderful goal and played a key pass in the build-up to the second. Key moments by Alexis.
Welbeck 5/10 | Struggled to make any impact in a tight game where chances were at a premium.
Subs:
Bellerin 6.5/10 | A danger down the right side but final ball was lacking at times.
Giroud 7/10 | On hand to head home the second goal just minutes after coming on.

So we secure another crucial win which keeps us in the hunt for the top four. A win at Stoke on Saturday will really put the pressure on Liverpool ahead of their trip to West Ham.
