The 3 top class strikers Arsenal are lining-up this summer

By on March 3, 2017

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are resigned to losing Alexis Sanchez this summer and have drawn-up a short-list of potential replacements that includes Marco Reus, Alexandre Lacazette and Andre Silva.

Sanchez is approaching the final year of his contract and so far we’ve been unable to agree a new deal with the club struggling to meet Sanchez demands both financially and on the pitch.

The Chilean superstar wants assurances we’re going to compete for major trophies and he isn’t convinced it’s possible at the Emirates following our latest collapse in the league and Champions League.

Alexis currently earns around £130,000-a-week and Arsenal are reportedly willing to pay him close to £200,000 but the attacker is demanding at least £250,000-a-week – a figure we’re not prepared to go to.

So all the signs suggest that Sanchez won’t sign a new deal which means the club are expected to cash-in rather than lose him for nothing in 2018 so there will be a huge void to fill up front.

Despite on-going concerns over his own future, it looks like Arsene Wenger is still making plans for next season [we all know deep down he’s going to sign a new deal!] and the Daily Mail claim he’s drawn-up his list of potential replacements for Alexis.

Top of the list is Lyon hitman Lacazette and it looks like we’re ready to renew our interest having failed with a move to land the French international last summer.

Having scored 27 goals in all competitions for Lyon so far this season, I expect we’ll have to pay north of £50m for the 25-year-old but he’s certainly got the goal threat we’re looking for.

Next up and the Mail say that Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus is on our hit-list and the German international is probably the closest thing to a direct replacement for Sanchez.

Like Alexis, Reus isn’t an out-and-out striker but rather a left-sided attacker who’s capable of playing through the middle when required. No doubt he’s a world class talent and I’d love to see him join Arsenal but I would have concerns over his injury record.

The 27-year-old has been plagued by injury issues in recent years and we all know how bad Arsenal are at dealing with such players!

The final name listed by the Daily Mail is Porto hitman Andre Silva. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest young properties in European football this season having scored 18 times in 33 games.

His lightening quick and has all the tricks up his sleeve so he’d be an exciting signing if we could get a deal agreed, however, I think it would take huge money to persuade Porto to cash-in, such is the hype surrounding him right now.

So there you have it, if Sanchez doesn’t sign a new deal and is sold this summer those are apparently the three names we’re looking at.

Lacazette is the goal-scorer, Reus is the world class injury risk, while Silva is the exciting young talent. Any of the three would be great signings but it’s going to be interesting to see who we go for in the end.

I heard Yaya Sanogo scored for the U23’s today, maybe Wenger will just look for an ‘internal solution’?….
