New shirt numbers for Xhaka, Sanchez, Coquelin & Cech leaked
Granit Xhaka’s Arsenal shirt number appears to have been confirmed while Petr Cech, Francis Coquelin and Alexis Sanchez look like they have new numbers for the upcoming season.
Yesterday, we saw photos of Xhaka posing in the new Arsenal kit leaked online ahead of his proposed move from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Now, the Arsenal supporter who first posted those snaps on Twitter appears to have confirmed what number the Swiss international will be wearing next year.
It comes as no surprise that Xhaka has gone for No.34, as it’s his favourite number and he’s worn it throughout his career, and he even has it tattooed on his back.
Coquelin has relinquished the 34 shirt and moved to No.8, which will be vacant when Mikel Arteta leaves the club next month.
Sanchez looks set to have a new number too as the Chilean will supposedly move from 17 to the No.7 shirt – which will be vacant when Tomas Rosicky leaves.
The final change will see Cech take the No.1 shirt from Szczesny, with the Polish international’s future at Arsenal unclear after a successful season on loan at Roma.
Obviously we’ll have to wait for official confirmation of these changes but they would all certainly make sense.
