Arsenal Handed Triple Injury Boost Ahead Of Southampton Game
Finally, some positive injury news! The Daily Mail are reporting today that Arsenal have been handed a triple injury boost with The Ox, Wojciech Szczesny and Yaya Sanogo all set to be passed fit to play Southampton on Wednesday.
Oxlade-Chamberlain came on as a late sub against West Brom on Saturday but ended the game limping after receiving treatment on an ankle injury he sustained while challenging for the ball.
Arsene confirmed after the game he wasn’t sure how serious the injury was but it looks as though it was nothing more than a minor knock as the Daily Mail are claiming that the 21-year-old has been passed fit to face Southampton on Wednesday night.
The newspaper also reports that Wenger expects Szczesny to be back in contention after recovering from a hip injury that’s seen him miss our last two games.
However, the problem for the Pole is that Emiliano Martinez has helped us to two clean sheets during his absence so he might not be automatically recalled to the starting eleven.
The third piece of positive news is that Yaya Sanogo is also available again having missed Saturday’s victory at the Hawthorns with a minor hamstring strain that he suffered against Borussia Dortmund last week.
But with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck both fit, Sanogo may find it difficult to even get a place among the subs when the Saints come to North London on Wednesday.
