Wenger Confirms MAJOR Injury Blow As Key Man Suffers Setback

Our injury woes continue with Arsene Wenger confirming that Laurent Koscielny isn’t expected back for at least another three or four weeks.

Koscielny has been out for over a month after aggravating his Achilles injury while away with the France squad last month, when the French FA revealed he was suffering from chronic tendinitis in both Achilles.

Arsene was initially hopeful it was just a minor issue and he was pencilled in to play against Hull on the 18th, but it soon became apparent that the injury needed further rest and he was ruled out until after the upcoming international break.

However, the boss told reporters on Friday that with Koscielny still not back running outside yet, there’s no chance he’ll be in contention to face Man Utd in two weeks time and although he doesn’t need surgery, it’s going to be at least three to four weeks before he’s available again.

“He has not started running outside so you cannot think he will be available in two weeks’ time,” Wenger said.

“Then, you have to see how he responds to going outside and running. He is not there yet anyway. He cannot run. He will not be available for three or four weeks.”

“It’s just inflammation. Too much French salami. He won’t need surgery. His achilles on the scans are quite good. He could not go on, so we had no choice.”

Knowing our luck Koscielny will suffer another set-back when he does eventually return to full training and be ruled out for even longer.

So it looks like we’re going to have to put up with Nacho Monreal at centre-back for the next few weeks. The thought of the Spaniard up against Wilfried Bony tomorrow is bad enough but when you think about our current back-four lining-up against Falcao, Di Maria, RVP and Rooney in a couple of weeks, it makes for a few sleepless nights.

As well as games with Swansea and United, Kos is set to miss clashes with Dortmund, WBA, Southampton, Stoke and Galatasaray. If he does suffer any kind of set back, then he’ll be in danger of missing the busy festive period.

Much has been written about our injury problems and the club are obviously finding it difficult to figure about whats going on, but you can not defend Arsene’s decision not to buy another centre-back in the summer.

It was clear for all to see we were short at the back and what makes it even more baffling is the fact the club knew about Koscielny’s dodgy Achilles in the summer, so why on earth did we think it was okay to go into the season with just Calum Chambers – our No.2 right-back – as back-up in the middle of defence?

    This is the clown who knew about Kos’s knees but did sweet FA about it, sold TV10, put Jenkinson on loan, let Sagna go and did nothing to improve the defence, one man’s lack of vision again will have us out of all trophies by Xmas, take a bow le fraud
