TEAM: No Walcott Or Cazorla: Arsenal Line-Up To Take On Burnley

Alex-OxladeChamberlain-Arsenal

Arsenal play host to rock bottom Burnley on Saturday afternoon. This is the line-up I’d like to see Arsene Wenger select for the game.

Obviously Wojciech Szczesny will start in goal but there are decisions to be made in defence. With Laurent Koscielny out until after the next international break, Arsene has gone with Nacho Monreal alongside Per Mertesacker at the back in recent games.

I’m not a fan of Nacho in the middle so I’d prefer to see Calum Chambers played centrally with Hector Bellerin at right-back. Kieran Gibbs was a doubt after limping off against Sunderland but reports suggest he’ll be fit to start.

Arsene went with Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta in midfield last weekend in a 4-4-1-1 formation but I didn’t think it worked. I fully believe that the 4-2-3-1 formation is best suited to the players we have so I’d go with Aaron Ramsey and Arteta with Jack Wilshere just in front in a free role.

Santi Cazorla has been extremely disappointing of late so I think it’s time he drops out with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming back in to support Alexis and Welbeck in attack.

Theo Walcott is expected to be in the squad but it’s too soon to start him so let’s give him 20-30 minutes in the second half.

While this is the team I’d go with, I wouldn’t be surprised if the boss sticks with 4-4-1-1 and Monreal at the back.

Whatever line-up and team we put out, we should be more than a match for Burnley at home. Let’s hope so anyway….

Sorry, Wilshere can’t play in the hole. He has lost the ability to. He’d have to drop back to partner Ramsey. Cazorla plays in front of them, sanchez and Ox on either wings. Monreal in CB. (4-2-3-1) Scz – Chambers Mertz Monreal Gibbo – Wilsh Rambo – Sanchez Santi Ox – Welbz

I don’t understand the logic of using Theo as a sub. If he comes on at 60 or 70 and has a problem we have to use a second sub to take him off. If he starts, his fitness and form can be continually assessed and he can be given the optimum amount of match time.
