TEAM NEWS: Wenger Confirms 3 Fresh Injury Concerns + Debuchy Latest
Arsenal have just touched down in Germany ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund.
Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media at his press conference and revealed that three players have picked up fresh knocks.
As we reported earlier today, Nacho Monreal missed training on Monday morning and Arsene has confirmed the Spaniard didn’t travel to Germany so is out of tomorrow’s game due to a back problem. However, he should be available for the weekend.
Chambers also sat out training today due to a bout of tonsillitis and after previously saying the 19-year-old should be passed fit – Arsene later claimed he was just 50:50. Let’s hope he makes it as he’s expected to start at right-back in the absence of Mathieu Debuchy.
Widespread reports suggest the Frenchman is set to miss at least two months with a sprained ankle and the boss confirmed he will be out for a ‘longer period’ but claimed he still wasn’t sure exactly how long he’d be on the sidelines for.
Debuchy had his final scan this afternoon so it shouldn’t be long until we learn his fate. Fingers crossed for some positive news. We could certainly do with it.
The final injury update concerned Yaya Sanogo and Arsene has revealed that the striker has been left back in North London due to a ‘little’ hamstring injury.
Our injury situation never ceases to amaze me. We head into a vital game against Borussia Dortmund with just three fit senior defenders. Only at Arsenal….
