TEAM: Here’s How Arsenal May Line-Up With Welbeck In The Team

By on September 2, 2014

Arsenal made just one signing on transfer deadline day with Danny Welbeck arriving from Manchester United for a fee in the region of £16m. Here’s how I see him fitting in to the team.

With Olivier out until the new year, I think it’s clear that Welbeck will be playing the majority of his games through the middle for the foreseeable future.

He’s spent most of his time out wide for United, and he’s certainly capable of playing out there so will give Arsene Wenger options. However, central striker is his favoured position and I think that’s where we’ll see him play for the most part at Arsenal.

Welbeck is 6ft 2″, he’s strong and is decent with the ball at his feet, so he’ll be able to play the target man role and bring the likes of Alexis and Walcott into the game in and around the box.

Arsene may see Alexis as a central striker in the future, but for now I think we’ll see him on the wings and with Theo back in full training, he could be back in contention after the international break, and I’d love to see these two deployed either side of Welbeck.

Welbeck also has pace and likes to run behind, so Ozil would have three fast attackers in front of him to work with, and with Rambo also making late runs into the box, we’d have an attack to match anything in the league.

Obviously it’s going to take a bit of time for Welbeck to get used to our style of play and to gel with his team mates, but I feel he’s got all the attributes to be a top centre-forward for us.

Here’s how our starting eleven could look in a few weeks with our latest addition:

What do you think of the team? How would you line-up with Welbeck in the squad?

Wenger is si damn arrogant!!Why the hell is Sanogo still in the team. he’s a long term PROJECt!loan him out to bristol or Elche!Arsenal need a proper alternative to Giroud! Wenger does not own the club! He forgets all the millions of fans that have to stomach season after season of nothing!Stop breeding players like snogo!go out and get established players!Look at chelsea, City even United, they buy players that will help them immediately, not in 3 years time!and grow a spine Wenger!Stop strengthening the rest of the league, RVP to utd?!?! United would never have sold you Rooney in his prime!Sagna to CITY?!Nasri and adebyr to city….Another top striker was/is needed,Arsenal don’t have a plan B. Like Lambert for liverpool. Drogba for chelsea. Theres no excuse for arsenal not winning one of the major trophies this season. Wengers seat should be on the chopping block.

I am growing increasingly frustrated by our formation.

The 4 1 4 1 is hampering Ozil in my opinion. Germany played this way with Ozil wide but they had better central midfielders. This new formation is to get Jack in the team.

So we have sacrificed signing Cesc and playing Ozil in the correct position to give Jack games?

I thought we were past that. I really did.

I can only hope Jack and Ramsey find a way to play together before we get smashed.

For me 4 2 3 1 is the best formation for our squad.

We have the best number 10 in the world and no longer use the number 10 in our line-up. Astounding.

Seriously … It is irritating for me to listen to fans who seem to think that they could do better the Wenger. I think what has happened to Van Haal and his predecessor at Man U that managing in the Premiership is one of the hardest gigs in the world. Ask any one outside of the Emirates if they would take his record with budget he has been given over the last 19 years and they would take it. So relax a bit and realize that if it were as easy as you all make it out to be then you probable would not be working your day job.

Arsene is the most frustrating manager a team could have,as we the supporters experienced yesterday. However in Welbeck we have a better player than Giroud and Sanogo. In fact, if Alex was still utd manager, Welbeck would still be playing for them. It’s down to ARSENE to polish this gem and make utd regret the day they sold him to Arsenal.Wish we had signed khedira though. STAY POSITIVE GOONERS WE WILL COMPETE FOR PREMIER LEAGUE AND CHAMPIONS LEAGUE THIS SEASON.

Yes let us support what we have got in form of WELBEK . UMM! I LOVE HIM AND HIS STYLE OF PLAYING FOOTBALL , I CAN’T WAIT FOR HIM TO JUBILATE HIS GOAL AGAINST MAN U. I CAN’T BELIEVE HE WILL COME AS I CAN’T SUPPORT MANCHESTER UNITED FOR EVER . UP GUNNERS … THE ISSUE OF DM IS ANOTHER PROBLEM … I HOPE THEY RESURRECT THIS SEASON AND PROVE WENGER RIGHT .

3.3.1.3 is the system that would give Wenger a chance to win games, mitigate on injuries and have the chance to rotate and bring in the the younger players to take over and ensure domination for years.

The base system here is 3.5.2 but what this pattern but it ends up being a generic of that which is 3.3.1.3. mobile players like Podolski and Walcott are give room to run and punish teams. Ozil supports attack Right Forward (CAM) operating through the center, Sanchez comes from the left forward (CAM). Welback at the Centre Forward. At the back, three man defense is set up but Walcott and Carzola (Can they learn to track back) will come in as wing backs. In the Centre Flamini and Arteta and Chambers may have shifts there too, to team up with Ramsey. Every position is fully covered and a second team can play the same pattern in training making it easily the best way to compensate for whatever injuries can be received.

It’s a system that will ensure rapid transition during a counter attack on an opponent and has the players to get the goals. Both Walcott and Carzola are good at cutting in to attack as long they coordinate their cut ins. In case we need to defend a win a get the result, the wingbacks can be replaced by players biased in defending to create a 5 man defensive wall. For instance you remove Carzola/Podolski and bring in Monreal and remove Walcott/Ox and bring in Chambers who goes into the RB position and Debuchy goes Wing Back.

So this is what you end up with in the 3.3.1.3 Formation

    ———–Welbeck————–
    ———-Sanchez-Ozil———–
    ————–Ramsey
    Carzola——-Flamini——-Walcott
    —-Gibbs, Konsielny, Debuchy—-

while other managers were busy signing players to strengthen their teams our’s was in Italy to referee a charity match of course that was much more important than actually buying quality players so we could compete and maybe even win the PL instead of struggling to finish fourth. We have known since last season the areas that we needed to strengthen. We sign a player from Man U that they wanted rid off so they could sign a world class player we were supposed to be signing.Meanwhile we have still not got a central defender, defensive midfielder and we still need a world class striker. The season has just started but for Arsenal it has just ended because there is no way we will win anything with our current players.

I think you have the formation spot on there. I’m unconvinced by arteta though and would maybe play flaming or Wiltshire or even chambers there, hopefully carvalho in the future. But that line up gets the best out of ozil. Strong bench too with Wiltshire, Camorra, ox and the. Ground when fit. I’d sell podolski to raise funds for carvalho and a defender to cover as well in january

Couldn’t agree more. This line up has got to be our strongest 11, Arteta has been decent though and definitely better than most give him credit for. Carvalho would in my opinion be a great January signing (needed him now) and a step in the right direction. Podolski should be sold to make the funds available, amazing player but hasn’t really lived up to it for me and now we have plenty of options out wide.
