TEAM: Wilshere OUT: My Arsenal Starting Line-Up To Play Leicester
Arsenal play their final game before the two week international break as we take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Here is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with.
David Ospina is back in full training but isn’t expected to make the squad this weekend. Either way, Wojciech Szczesny will start in goal.
The back four were excellent on Wednesday to hold firm against Besiktas, so unfortunately I’d have to leave Calum Chambers out again and go with Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny and Monreal.
Midfield is a tricky area. Mikel Arteta is still out injured so Mathieu Flamini pretty-much has to start as we need some defensive steel in the side. Aaron Ramsey is back from his ban and will come straight back in, so where does this leave Jack Wilshere?
Jack was excellent in midweek and I can see Arsene sticking with his 4-1-4-1 formation with Mesut Ozil on the left, as he was on Wednesday. But for me, this doesn’t work and Ozil needs to be in the middle dictating play, so unfortunately that means Wilshere has to miss out.
We need The Ox in the team for his pace and Santi Cazorla is the most suited to the left-wing out of Ozil and Wilshere, so the Spaniard should start out wide.
Alexis Sanchez showed us he’s capable of playing the lone striker role in midweek and it looks like he’ll be continuing there for the foreseeable future with Olivier Giroud out – unless we can bring in another striker before Monday’s deadline.
So here’s how my team would line-up:
I think this is the most well-balanced side we could put out. In reality though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Arsene stick with Ozil on the left and play either Cazorla or Wilshere in the middle.
Whatever team is put out, we’ve got more than enough in the side to beat Leicester and head in to the international break on a high.
What team would you start? Should Ozil play out wide?
