TEAM NEWS: Wenger On Ramsey, Arteta, Gibbs + Ospina

By on August 29, 2014

Arsene Wenger has given the latest team news ahead of Arsenal’s game against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Unfortunately Mikel Arteta will miss the trip as he’s still not recovered from the ankle injury that’s kept him out of the last two games. Wenger described him as ‘short’ so it seems he’ll be available after the upcoming international break.

The boss also ruled Kieran Gibbs out of this weekend’s action with the 24-year-old also due to return after the international’s, so Nacho Monreal will continue at left-back.

One piece of good news is that Aaron Ramsey returns to the squad after serving his one-game European suspension in midweek, and the Welshman is expected to come straight back in to the starting line-up.

There is also positive news on summer signing David Ospina with Arsene revealing that the Colombian has returned to full training but might just miss out on making the squad on Sunday as he works his way back to full fitness, so youngster Martinez is likely to be on the bench once again.

Theo Walcott is set to return to full training next week so with the exception of Olivier Giroud, the injury situation should look for more promising after the international break. Unless players pick up injuries while away with their nations, of course!

Here’s what Arsene said at his press conference this morning:
