Wenger: ‘It Doesn’t Look Good’ – Arsenal Hit By New Injury Blow

By on August 24, 2014

Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Olivier Giroud after the striker picked up an ankle injury during the closing stages of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Everton.

Just minutes after coming off the bench to rescue a point at Goodison Park with a late headed equaliser, Giroud picked up an ankle injury and hobbled from the field at the final whistle.

After the game, the French international was seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot and he’s now a huge doubt to play any part in our Champions League play off second leg against Besiktas.

Arsene Wenger admitted last night that Giroud’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’ but the boss still hopes he won’t be ruled out of the crucial clash on Wednesday night.

“It is a big game and I hope we have not lost him [Giroud],”

“In the final minute he stretched his ankle. At the moment it doesn’t look too good. “

He’s a frustrating player sometimes but there’s no doubt he made a huge difference when he came on against Everton and it will be a big blow if he’s out for any period of time.

I read rumours online last night that he could face up to three months out, but they are unsubstantiated reports right now so we’ll just have to see how things stand in a couple of days.

Yeh, but Wenger does not believe we need another striker- We’ve all heard his comment, now we will sign up another 2nd rate striker “a la Giroud” all the top ones are taken – not that Wenger would sign any other than bargain basement players. I dislike the Asshole intensely. At the last minute he” sign some cripple from Russia or some freeby from elsewhere as a stop gap till next season -Shiot he pisses me off!

Finally! Both Giroud and Sanogo are injured, hopefully Campbell will get his chance to play as our striker.
Hopefully Wenger will actually play Ozil as a number 10 and not a winger too, Sanchez and Ox on the wings. Sorted.

“I dislike the Asshole intensely” Gee I’d never have guessed 66 million on 4 players so far and you bang on about bargain basement WTF is your problem. You can’t even get his quotes in context and why would Wenger tell the world what his intentions are? The market he’s working in is small enough without announcing what additions he and his staff are working on. Support the club and the manager or think about supporting something else Arsenal fc is plainly not for you.

Well said trugun. I think people should show other people some respect, especially as you didn’t employ the man. Plus, he knows Arsenal better than most of us. That is why he is the coach and you my dear man, are not.

Interviewed on French TV station Telefoot last night Giroud suggested that he would be fit for Wednesday. I suspect the three month estimates were the usual garbage tweeted by morons

You rightly call him crazy Mario and that is exactly why no sane manager would let him anywhere near our presently harmonious dressing room as he would be certain to disrupt it. Hope he goes to Liverpool or better still Chelsea or Spurs, anywhere but us. Why bring a fox into a henhouse?

I think Mario is better than Giroud . Why is it that Arsene Wenger cant sign him? Re we waiting for the remnants of other teams so that we can pick them up for free? BIG shame on us

Arsene is deluded if he thinks he can win the epl on skill alone.
His skilful guys are midgets compared with the powerhouses like Yahya
    and other imposing guys.
Sanchez can be easily bulldozed if not outmuscled by the thugs. The md and central defence are problems obvious to all but the fm.
To win the epl you need established strikers.Sanogo is a work in progress and is a gamble if Giroud aint around .The latter has been injured.
Lose to Besiktas and the pressure will mount. MC have already overpowered Pool. I know these are early days. They are not favourites for nothing. The game after the international break will tell us whether Wenger can mix with the big boys.I have an uncomfortable feeling the gunners could lose but anything can happen.
