Arsenal in ‘favourable position’ to sign Rodrygo Goes
Arsenal are reportedly in a ‘favourable position’ to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners have purchased Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi thus far this summer, while Christian Norgaard is set to be the new midfield option to support the former Real Sociedad star.
After revamping the midfield department, Mikel Arteta is prioritising strengthening the frontline. Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly close to becoming Arsenal’s new striker, while Noni Madueke has emerged as an option to add depth to the right flank.
Moreover, Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Now, Fichajes state that Arsenal are also keen on signing Rodrygo and are in a ‘favourable position’ to seal the deal.
The forward isn’t happy with the lack of playing time at Real Madrid, so he is ready to leave. Los Blancos won’t stop him from moving away if they receive a compelling offer, and it has been reported that Xabi Alonso’s side want around £77m.
The Brazilian’s uncertain future has alerted Manchester City and Liverpool as well, while they are preparing to make a move to buy the forward. So, Arsenal are planning to step up their efforts by launching a formal proposal and are ready to match the Spanish giants’ asking price.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
Rodrygo is comfortable on either flank and is also efficient in the attacking midfield position. Although the forward struggled to find regular game time towards the end of last season, he still showcased his goal-scoring prowess, scoring 14 goals and registering nine assists in all competitions.
The South American has proven his worth at the highest level over the last few years with Los Merengues and has also secured his place in the Brazil national team.
He is a top-class forward and possesses the potential to become a world-class winger in the future. Therefore, the 24-year-old would be a great coup for the North London club should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium before the end of this transfer window.
