RATINGS: My Player Ratings From Arsenal’s 0-0 Draw With Besiktas

By on August 19, 2014

Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw by Besiktas in the first leg of our Champions League play off on Tuesday night. Here are my ratings from the game:

Szczesny 6/10 | Not an awful lot to do but did make a couple of smart saves from Ba.

Debuchy 7/10 | Always keen to get forward and was solid at the back.

Monreal 7/10 | Had a good game overall after coming in for the injured Gibbs.

Koscielny 7/10 | Solid as a rock again.

Chambers 8/10 | Easily our best player. Was sensational in the first half, with the exception of one slip up.

Arteta 6/10 | Steady before being forced off through injury.

Wilshere 6/10 | Decent enough in the first half but faded after the break.

Ramsey 5.5/10 | One superb pass for Giroud but otherwise quiet and stupidly got himself sent off, even if it was harsh.

Cazorla 5/10 | Very quiet from the Spaniard.

Alexis 6.5/10 | Very lively in the first half, as he fought for every ball and was looking dangerous but faded in the second half.

Giroud 4/10 | Without being too harsh, he was useless. Touch was off all night but at least he kept going.

Subs:

Flamini 5/10 | Got his booking within four minutes of coming on.

The Ox 7/10 | Hit the post and should have come on earlier.

Rosicky N/A | On too late.

A pretty awful game ruined by a poor pitch and an even worse referee, but we should see them off with ease at the Emirates.

Believe your right about seeing them off in the second leg,but he has to strengthen that left side,Cazorla is a passenger out there and as regards Monreal if he is up against any opposition my heart misses abeat.Thought Wilshere was terrible and gives the team nothing and im here to be shot at,needs a dominant certain midfielder and the fella Schneiderlin should be brought in.Giroud the less said the better.Young boy Chambers will turnout to be very SPECIAL.Needs to play Santi in the centre to get the best from his game and not worry about stopping players progression(Wilshere)When there not good enough.

U’re right! Cazorla should be in the centre. Then in next games left wing left for Ozil. Ramsey & wilshere will fight besides Flamini. =)

The lack of real quality was so evident tonight. Giroud was embarrassingly bad. the midfield had no spark or energy, we will be haunted by AWs pride we should have had Fabregas there…..thanks God we have found Chambers , back four decent but no real cover……I fear the trip to Everton even though we could have BFG and MO back…

Good ratings. Giroud was awful, and I don’t understand why the subs were so late – if the players are not fit, you make subs, and Ox for Cazorla was an obvious choice.

Not to say I told you so about santi but yet again excuse for an arsenal player and people seem to think playing in middle wlll make a differnce.. why ? I have no idea, he played in middle last year for bit and did nothing.

wenger just does`nt seem to get in an away game use our pace players to push the opp. back instead the team he went with allowed them to pressure us high up.

ox needs to play head of Santi, Giroud I like but awful yesterday but one good thing like you said he never stops and gives 100%. even if rest of play wasn`t up to the standard we expect.
