World Cup Star Bids Farewell To Team-Mates Ahead Of Arsenal Move

By on July 26, 2014

Colombian international goalkeeper David Ospina has said goodbye to his Nice team-mates ahead of his £3.5m move to Arsenal, according to reports in France.

As we reported last night, Arsene Wenger let the cat out the bag yesterday after confirming to reporters in New York that the 25-year-old is set to join Arsenal and compete with Wojciech Szczesny for the number one shirt next season.

This came after widespread reports claimed we had agreed a £3.5m fee with Nice – who were forced to accept such a low fee as Ospina is in the final year of his contract – and the keeper has agreed a four-year deal worth around £60,000-a-week.

Now, local media outlet Nice Matin are reporting that Ospina visited the Nice training ground for the final time on Thursday where he said his goodbyes to his soon-to-be former team-mates.

It’s understood the stopper is due in London early next week to complete the formalities of his move to the Emirates, and will become our third major signing of the summer [unless the Calum Chambers deal goes through before].

Ospina was superb for Colombia at the World Cup and he’s certainly going to provide some stiff competition to Szczesny for the first team jersey. Another excellent piece of business by Arsene. Now on to a defensive midfielder…

I dont believe in all these stories ontil when the deal is confirmed. People are just writing anything the feel like writting, no truth in them.
