Arsenal ‘Confident’ Of Sealing £8m Deal As Wenger Eyes Double Swoop
Arsenal are ‘confident’ of signing Loic Remy in an £8m deal as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in two strikers this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Remy has been linked with Arsenal for some time but the paper claims that the boss is finally ready to make his move and will trigger the strikers £8m buy-out clause this summer.
The Frenchman is expected to leave QPR on a permanent basis after enjoying an excellent season on loan at Newcastle last year, where he scored 14 goals in 26 games.
Widespread reports have suggested that Remy is stalling on his future as he’s holding out for Arsenal because he wants to follow in the foot-steps of his idol Thierry Henry, so it looks as though Arsene is ready to grant him his wish.
And the signing of Remy will be part of a double striker swoop as the Daily Mail claim that we’re looking to bring in two forwards this summer, with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Mario Mandzukic and of course Alexis Sanchez all targets.
I’d personally be delighted if we signed Remy and Sanchez. Both are versatile and can play out wide or through the middle, so they’d give Arsene plenty of options, while they would also bring some much-needed pace to our attack.
Sanchez is likely to cost in the region of £30m, with recent reports even claiming we’ve agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old. Whether that turns out to be the case remains to be seen, but spending £38m on the Chilean and Remy sounds like excellent business to me, so fingers crossed we can get both deals done.
