Rennes Youngster Claims Paul-Georges Ntep Has Signed For Arsenal
Has it happened Gooners? Have we made our first signing of the January transfer window?
Well, according to Rennes youth player Ousmane Dembele, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Rennes striker Paul-Georges Ntep.
Dembele has caused quite a stir among Arsenal fans on Twitter on Sunday night after posting a tweet earlier this evening claiming that team mate Ntep will be joining Arsenal:
Ntep en prêt a rennes
— Ousmane Dembele (@ousdu27) January 12, 2014
@SChetAntoine arkip il est transféré a arsenal est il est directemen prête a rennes
— Ousmane Dembele (@ousdu27) January 12, 2014
The tweet roughly translates to say that Ntep has been bought by Arsenal and will immediately be loaned back to Rennes.
The news comes just 24 hours after Ntep teased fans by posting a photo of him on the Eurostar en route to London on Saturday evening.
Rumours claim he, along with his agent, were heading to the capital to hold talks with Arsenal officials and it seems a deal may have been reached….if you believe Dembele, that is.
We’ve been strongly linked with Ntep in recent months, so the 16-year-old’s claim is certainly believable. He might get a slap on the wrists for leaking the deal if it does turn out to be true, but that’s the wonder of social media these days!
Ntep isn’t the big-money signing we’re hoping for and it sounds as though he won’t even be with the club for the second half of the season, but he’s highly-rated in France and could turn out to be an excellent signing in the future.
Obviously nothing official has been released by Rennes or Arsenal, but let’s see how this develops over the coming days.

This has to be complete and utter rubbish. Why on earth would we sign a striker then immediately loan him back when we desperately need a striker. Bollocks

he’s not the solution to the “striker” problem…
he’s a promising youngster…but we will sign someone else too.

If true that Arsenal are buying and then prepared to loan him straight out it indicates that he is not good enough at the moment – jesus we want to win a title now, not some bl@@dy years in the future when he is ready.

Well I want to win a title now AND in the bloody future, so I have no problem with planning ahead as long as Wenger has plans for this season

Suddenly we are against buying for the future? So no more Gnabry’s, Ramsey’s or Walcott’s then, right?

Trust me, this guy is really a devastating finisher in the Eto’o mould. I really wanted to believe he is going to sign for Arsenal. If not, he will be another ” I could’ve signed him ” type of player for Wenger.
