Arsenal Sign Impressive Defender Semi Ajayi
The transfer window may be closed but that hasn’t stopped us adding to our youth ranks with the free transfer signing of talented defender Semi Ajayi.
The 19-year-old centre-back came through the youth system at Charlton Atheltic before being released at the end of last season. After a brief spell with Norwich in pre-season, he was handed a trial by Arsenal in the summer and following two excellent display’s for the Under-21’s he has now signed for the club on a permanent basis, penning a two-year contract.
Ajayi confirmed the news on his official Twitter account:
Delighted to announce that I have officially signed for @Arsenal FC. Can't wait to see what the next two seasons here have in store for me.
— Semi Ajayi (@S_Ajayi5) September 17, 2013
Ajayi made an instant impact during his trial, scoring with a header during a win over Blackburn and has lead the Under-21’s to two successive clean sheets.
The Crayford-born teenager has been capped by Nigeria at Under-20 level but is still eligible to represent England. He’s a huge Arsenal fan with his hero believed to be Mr Arsenal himself, Tony Adams, so I’m sure he’ll give him all to make it at the club.
Welcome to Arsenal Semi, hope you can emulate your boyhood hero!
