Ashley Cole Explains Why He Isn’t In The Arsenal Invincibles Book
Ashley Cole has taken to Twitter to explain why he decided not to feature in the Arsenal Invincibles book.
A book commemorating our sensational unbeaten Premier League season in 2003/04 was released late last year after being written by life-long Arsenal fan Amy Lawrence.
The likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira all gave interviews but Cole was one of the few who declined to take part.
Cole took to Twitter this afternoon to explain that he didn’t think the fans would have wanted him to be involved but says he’ll never forget his time at Arsenal.
‘People asking why I’m not in the Invincibles book I thought it would be for the best. I didn’t think fans would want it.
‘But I will never forget my times at Arsenal and the amazing achievements I accomplished there with great people.’
It’s understandable that the left-back didn’t take part as no doubt he’d have got a barrage of abuse if he had, following his acrimonious move to Chelsea in 2006.
It was a bit of a lose-lose situation for him really as he’d have got stick no matter what he did, but I suppose he’s only got himself to blame for that.
Cole’s departure will go down as one of the most disappointing things in Arsenal’s recent history as it could have so easily been avoided and he was one of the best left-back’s in the world when he left us for Chelsea.
