Arsenal Dealt Injury Blow As Star Ruled Out For At Least 6 Weeks
Arsenal’s poor luck with injuries continue’s as reports are claiming that Mathieu Debuchy will be out for a minimum of six weeks, but could be out for three months if his shoulder injury needs surgery.
Debuchy suffered a dislocated shoulder during our 3-0 win over Stoke at the weekend when Marko Arnautovic cynically pushed him to the floor just off the pitch.
He was initially checked in the changing room on Sunday where the dislocation was confirmed but he’s now due to see a specialist who will determine the full extent of the injury.
Although the Arsenal medical staff hope the injury isn’t too serious, even if he doesn’t require surgery, the Mirror claim that he’ll be out for six weeks. If that’s not bad enough, if it’s found that the shoulder needs to be operated on, then Debuchy stands to miss the next three months.
So even the best-case scenario means we’re set to lose our first-choice right-back for the next six weeks, which is a sickening blow. Especially when you consider the fact he’s only just returned from an ankle injury that saw him miss practically the whole first half of the season.
Arsene Wenger is now expected to step up his search for a new defender. His focus is on a centre-back but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was keen on finding someone who could also fill-in at right back.
In Debuchy’s absence, Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers will have to deputize over the coming weeks.
