Arsenal Boost As Injured Star Declares: ‘I’ll Be Back Soon’
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost with Mesut Ozil revealing today that he’s closing in on his comeback.
Ozil has been on the sidelines for over 10 weeks since rupturing knee ligaments during our defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back on October 5th.
However, the German international has now told Arsenal.com that he’s due to return to full training and will be back in action for the first team ‘as soon as possible’.
“I’m working every day to get myself fit and I’m on the right path now. It won’t be much too much longer before I’m back on the pitch. I hope to be back training with the whole team again as soon as possible.”
“After a time, you really miss playing football. You miss the ball and just want to play. When you watch the games and think that you could have been playing, and playing well, it makes you miss it. But that’s the way things are.
I recall some ‘fans’ saying it was a blessing in disguise when Ozil got injured but I think its safe to say we’ve certainly missed him over the past 10 weeks.
Without him, we’ve dropped out of the title race and Ozil has admitted the team have conceded some sloppy goals, but he’s confident we can finish the season strongly:
“When you watch the games, we’ve dominated a lot of them but have conceded unnecessary goals,” he said. “That can’t happen, because in the Premier League, every team is capable of beating one another.
“We have to get our points by playing the game our way… I’m convinced that we will finish the season near the top of the table.”
In Ozil’s absence, we’ve lacked a killer instinct in the final third at times and I for one can’t wait for him to be back in action. Now we’ve got pace in our attack, I really think we’ll start to see the best of him.
With any luck, he’ll be back in contention at the start of January….
