Arsenal Confirm HUGE Injury Blow As Star Undergoes Surgery

Arsenal have confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy has undergone surgery on his left ankle and will be out for around three months.

The French international was forced off after falling awkwardly during our 2-2 draw with Manchester City earlier this month and was immediately sent for scans to see how much damage had been done.

However, the first set of scans were inconclusive, only confirming there was ligament damage, and Debuchy had to undergo exploratory surgery on Friday to determine the full extent of the injury.

The results are in and they are not good as the 29-year-old has been forced to go under the knife to repair the damage and the club confirmed on Arsenal.com he’ll now be out for around three months.

Wenger said:

“He has had surgery and will be out for three months,”

“A reasonable delay is three months.

“It all went well, but it can be a week or two earlier or a week or two later, but it will be around three months.

“It is a blow of course, how big it will be we will only know afterwards because it will be down to how well we replace him. We bought [Calum] Chambers for that.”

Obviously this is a huge blow and we wish Debuchy a speedy recovery. It’s now time for Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin to stake their claim for the first team shirt.
