‘People Say I’ve Already Signed For Arsenal, That’s Not True’ – Defender Dismisses Move Talk

Serge Aurier has dismissed suggestions that he is on his way to Arsenal this summer, but has opened the door to a  move to the Premier League.

With Arsene Wenger searching for a replacement for Bacary Sagna, the Toulouse defender has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer.

Some reports last month even suggested that the Ivory Coast international had already agreed a deal to make the switch to north London.

However, the speculation has died down in recent weeks as we turned our attention to Mathieu Debuchy and although Aurier has admitted he’d like to move to England, the 21-year-old has now confirmed that there was never an agreement in place to join Arsenal.

“People say that there was an agreement for me to join Arsenal, that I had already signed,”

“That is not true. All that I can say is that England is the league I like the most. Things are clear. I have always preferred a move to England, because it is the league that suits me the best.

“At the moment, I have not given my agreement to any club, whoever they might be and am therefore free to talk to whoever I want.” source: Sky Sports

Many fans were excited by the prospect of Aurier joining the club as he’s certainly a young, energetic full-back who offers a lot going forward, but the boss has opted for experience and I think that’s important when replacing a player like Sagna.

There could still be a possibility that we go for Aurier as well this summer, as Newcastle are understood to be keen on taking Carl Jenkinson on loan, so you never know, we might just give the Ivorian his wish to play in the Premier League after all.
