“We’ve Not Been Contacted By Arsenal” Agent Denies €25m Bid Reports
The agent of Lorenzo Insigne has claimed Arsenal have not made contact with him amid rumours we are set to table a €25m bid for the Napoli forward.
Insigne has been linked with a move to the Emirates for some time and newspaper reports in recent days have suggested Arsene Wenger has stepped up his interest ahead of making a €25m offer.
However, the 23-year-old’s agent, Fabio Andreotti, has now dismissed the suggestion that he’s been in contact with the boss, and although he confirmed Insigne is a target for several clubs, he insists Napoli have no intention of selling the player this summer.
“We have not been contacted by Arsenal for Lorenzo Insigne and Napoli has not notified us of this interest,” Andreotti told Italian radio station Radio Crc.
“Lorenzo is a target of several European sides so it wouldn’t surprise me if big clubs are interested in him. However, Napoli don’t want to put him in the market.” [source: Goal]
Insigne is a versatile forward who can play anywhere across the front line, so he’d give us plenty of options in attack if he was to make the move to North London, but judging by his agent’s comments, that’s unlikely to happen any time soon.
The transfer window is now open so fans are expecting Arsene to be making some moves in the transfer market soon, and a new striker is high on the priority list, but it appears we’ll have to strike Insigne off the wish-list for now.
