Date Confirmed For Arsenal’s Community Shield Clash With Man City

Arsenal and the Football Association have today confirmed the details for our Community Shield clash with Manchester City.

The new season curtain-raiser will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 10th August, kicking off at 3pm, as FA Cup winners Arsenal take on Premier League champions City.

Unfortunately, as was the case for the FA Cup final, both clubs will receive approximately 26,000 tickets for the match, which is a disgrace when you consider the capacity of Wembley is 90,000.

Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis made his feelings clear to the clubs official website and says he’ll be speaking with the FA to try and obtain more tickets.

“We are all looking forward to playing Manchester City in the Community Shield. However, as with the FA Cup final, we are disappointed with the official allocation of only 26,000 tickets for this match. This means that both clubs will only officially receive a combined total of approximately 52,000 tickets, in a stadium which has a capacity of 90,000.

“The club will implement a ticket-allocation policy which will be as fair to all our supporters as possible, but we appreciate that many of our loyal supporters will be unable to obtain tickets for this match. We will be explaining our position to the FA and will try our best to obtain more tickets for our supporters.”

The FA wont budge unless they can’t shift the extra tickets to their corporate members or sponsors, so we’re likely to have to make-do with our 26,000 allocation.

It’s going to be great to be back at Wembley and hopefully we’ll have a few new signings to parade for the first time!
