TEAMS: Arsenal Duo Start For Germany But Podolski Misses Out
Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker will start for Germany this evening in their World Cup Group G opener against Portugal.
There had been talk that Ozil may be left out but Germany boss Joachim Loew has decided to stick by our £42m man and start him in attack alongside Toni Kroos and Mario Gotze.
Per Mertesacker starts at the back alongside Mats Hummels but unfortunately there is no place for Lukas Podolski, with the attacker named among the substitutes despite some impressive displays in the warm up games.
Here’s the confirmed line-up:
Neuer, Boateng, Mertesacker, Hummels, Howedes, Lahm, Khedira, Kroos, Ozil, Gotze, Muller.
