Arsenal Eye Move For 25-Goal Hitman – Report

Arsenal are interested in signing Swansea City hitman Wilfried Bony, according to reports, but have been warned it will take a huge offer to prize him away from the Liberty Stadium.
Bony joined the Swans in a £12m deal from Vitesse Arnham last summer after he scored a sensational 37 goals in 36 games for the Dutch outfit.
The 25-year-old has turned out to be something of a bargain as he’s continued his excellent goal-scoring form in England, and notched 25 goals in 48 appearances for Swansea this season, including a fine header against Arsenal during a 2-2 draw at the Emirates back in March.
Understandably he’s attracted interest and Bony himself admitted recently that he has ambitions to move to a ‘big club’ and play in the Champions League.
It seems Arsenal are keen to offer him that opportunity with the Express claiming that Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move for the Ivory Coast international this summer as he looks to bring in competition for Olivier Giroud.
Everton are also understood to be interested, however, Swansea boss Garry Monk has insisted that the Welsh outfit are under no pressure to sell and warned it would take an ‘astronomical’ fee to persuade them to cash in.
“I think we can hold on to him,” he said. “He’s a good guy but money talks.
“It would have to be an astronomical fee for him to leave though and we’re not a selling club. We’re not in any debt. We don’t need to lose anyone so we’re in a strong position.”
I’m a big fan of Bony’s and actually think he’d be an interesting signing. He has pace, raw power and is able to hold the ball up well. He obviously knows where the goal is and is good in the air, so he has all the attributes we require.
He also has that much-needed experience in the Premier League. As we’ve seen in the past, many top class strikers come to these shores and struggle to adapt but Bony has fitted in well and has proven he can score goals in the Prem.
Despite what Monk says, the Swansea board would have to take any offer of £20m or above seriously and I think he’d be a good buy at that kind of price. The player has already admitted he’d jump at the chance of playing at the top level, so maybe it’s worth a punt?
