RATINGS: My Ratings Arsenal Arsenal’s 4-1 Win Over Everton
We booked our place at Wembley in the semi-final’s of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win over Everton at the Emirates today.
It was an excellent cup tie with both sides going for it, and thankfully we came out on top with Ozil, Arteta (pen) and a late double from sub Giroud easing us past the Toffees.
Here are my ratings:
Fabianski: 6.5/10 The Pole surprisingly started in goal ahead of Szczesny despite the fact Wojciech will be suspended on Tuesday, but luckily he came through the game unscathed. He didn’t have a whole lot to do in terms of shot-stopping and could do little about their goal.
Sagna: 7/10 Did well to put Pienaar off for what would have been a certain goal with the score at 1-0, but lost Mirallas at the far post for equaliser. Made up for it with a great assist for Giroud’s first goal.
Mertesacker: 7/10 Won some important aerial duels and was once again a calm head at the back. Dealt with the threat of Lukaku pretty well.
Vermaelen: 7/10 Encouraging comeback from the Belgian international. He got away with a mistake in the second half that should have led to a second for Evrton but thankfully Barkley put it over, otherwise he was very good.
Gibbs: 6.5/10 Was caught too far up the pitch for their goal but was otherwise solid.
Flamini: 6.5/10 Booked for a reckless tackle on Stones early on which limited his impact for the rest of the match. He wasn’t able to put any sort of tackle in on Barkley to stop the cross due to to the booking.
Arteta: 7/10 He seemed to be playing a little further forward with Flamini behind him which caused problems at times as he didn”t have the legs to track back when Everton broke, but showed great composure to score the re-taken penalty.
Cazorla: 8/10 Excellent all-round display. Lovely weighted ball for Ozil’s goal and forced a good stop early in the second half. Was always on the ball making things happen.
Ozil: 8.5/10 Crisis? Mesut was back to his best today. Superb finish for the opener and showed great awareness to find Giroud for the fourth. He worked harder than he has done in previous games and was always a threat. MOTM
The Ox: 8/10 Excellent display from The Ox. He was lively throughout and tested robles with a couple of powerful long-range efforts in the first half. He did lose the ball a couple of times but showed great work ethic to chase back and recover the ball. Won the penalty which was the decisive moment in the game.
Sanogo: 6/10 Tested the keeper with an early shot but he was largely poor. The ball just wasn’t sticking when it was played into him and Giroud’s introduction made a huge difference.
Subs:
Giroud: 8/10 Looked refreshed and showed great poachers instinct to poke home the third and was on hand to tap in the fourth after some excellent work fro Ozil.
Rosicky 7.5/10 Played his part in two goals so had a positive impact.
Jenkinson: N/A
One step closer to ending our much-talked about trophy drought. Let’s hope for a kind draw and we can then beat Man City in the final!
