Arsenal’s German Attacker Lined-Up For Summer Switch To Italy

By on March 5, 2014

Reports today are claiming that Inter Milan are lining up a move for Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski this summer.

The German international has struggled to build on a promising first season at the Emirates that saw him score 16 goals in 42 games following his £12m move from FC Koln last summer.

A serious hamstring injury ruling him out for the majority of the first half of the season and he’s struggled to regain his place in Arsene Wenger’s first team since returning to action, with the 28-year-old only managing eight league appearances so far this campaign.

The Daily Star are now citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir has set his sights on luring Podolski to the San Siro as he continues to rebuild the Serie A giants squad.

Inter have already secured the signing of Nemanja Vidic while they are also eyeing moves for Patrice Evra and Bacary Sagna, and it seems Podolski is the latest player they want to sign.

However, the forward still has over two years left to run on his current contract and he has shown no signs of discontent, despite his bit-part role at the club, so it may simply come down to what Wenger’s plans are for him.

If the boss feels Podolski is no longer in his plans and he wants to bring in a younger option like Julian Draxler or Antoine Griezmann, then a move to Inter could be on the cards.
