Arsenal now eyeing move for Brentford star Kevin Schade
Arsenal have expressed interest in signing German international forward Kevin Schade from Brentford, according to TEAMtalk.
Schade has been one of the Premier League’s most exciting forwards in recent seasons and was described as ‘outstanding’ after providing four goal contributions in a 4-1 win over Leicester City in November 2024, including a hat-trick.
He spent most of his formative years in Germany, playing for Babelsberg, Energie Cottbus and Freiburg, where he came through the ranks. He made his debut in August 2021 against Borussia Dortmund and netted his first goal four months later, in a 6–0 thrashing of Borussia Mönchengladbach, to become Freiburg’s 21st-youngest-ever goalscorer at 20 years and 8 days.
After 36 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, he joined Brentford in January 2023 on loan before the deal became permanent the following summer in what was then a club-record transfer.
Four and a half years into that move, Schade has repaid the faith and played a key role in the club’s surge. In the ongoing season, he tops Brentford’s highest-scorer chart with three goals, with his displays catching the eye of several clubs, including Arsenal.
This is according to TEAMtalk, which claims that Arsenal have expressed interest in signing the German international from Brentford.
‘Outstanding’ attacker
The Gunners are touted to be one of the most interested clubs in signing the 24-year-old, having kept tabs on him in the recently concluded summer transfer window, according to the report.
Amid Arsenal’s interest, TEAMtalk adds that the West Londoners are not in a hurry to sell the attacking ace and will demand a fee in excess of £60m to sanction his departure in January.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side are not alone in the race, with the report adding that Premier League rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the German.
Arsenal have been difficult to break down this season, conceding just five goals in seven league games, but their attacking output is yet to hit top gear.
With Viktor Gyokeres struggling to make a consistent impact, recruiting a versatile winger who can adapt to different tactical systems could address that weakness, making Schade a viable option.
With the report adding that Brentford are in talks to extend his contract, it’ll be interesting to see whether Arsenal will meet the Bees’ £60m valuation in January or wait till the summer to assess other options.
