Arsenal now eyeing move for Inter Milan midfielder Andy Diouf
Arsenal are keeping tabs on Inter Milan midfielder Andy Diouf ahead of a potential swoop to the Emirates Stadium, according to CaughtOffside.
The 23-year-old began his career with short stints at Paris Saint-Germain and AC Boulogne-Billancourt Youth before joining Rennes Academy, where he came through the ranks.
While he didn’t make a name for himself at Rennes, he impressed on loan at Basel and became the subject of a dramatic transfer twist when he signed for Lens just weeks after Basel triggered the option to buy him permanently.
Diouf has played 68 games for Lens since joining and was key to their recent surge, with his performances prompting Inter to sign him in the summer of 2025.
Despite being part of the squad that won Serie A and the Coppa Italia in Inter’s first domestic double in 16 years, the Frenchman played a small role in that campaign and accumulated only 479 Serie A minutes.
This season, however, head coach Cristian Chivu has deployed him as a right wing-back, and he has been indispensable since then, featuring in seven of Inter’s eight games in all competitions.
Diouf to Arsenal
It appears Diouf’s performances have not gone unnoticed, as CaughtOffside reports that Arsenal are closely monitoring the Frenchman ahead of a potential swoop.
The report adds that head coach Mikel Arteta values dynamic players who can operate in different positions, and Douf is seen as someone who can add depth in midfield and on the left side of the pitch.
With a contract at the San Siro that runs until 2030, Inter value the 6ft 2in midfielder highly, and it’ll take offers around £42-50m for them to consider selling him, with Arsenal now eyeing a move, according to the report.
However, the Premier League champions are set to face stern competition as CaughtOffside claims that Chelsea are tracking the two-cap France international, while Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on his progress in Italy
Diouf’s statistics this season show he’d be a shrewd addition to Arteta’s squad and a perfect fit for the Premier League. In five Serie A games, he’s completed a sky-high 92.3% of his passes, while his 3.66 duels won and 3.44 recoveries per game show his willingness to win the ball back.
Despite his qualities, Arsenal already have sufficient depth in defence and midfield, so it will be interesting to see whether they are willing to spend around £50m on a player for a position that is already well stocked.
