Arsenal considering signing Man City’s Rayan Cherki
Arsenal are reportedly considering signing Manchester City midfielder Rayan Cherki, as per TEAMtalk.
The 23-year-old started his youth career at Saint-Priest before joining Olympique Lyonnais academy at the age of seven. After coming through their youth system, he made his first-team debut back in 2019, at the age of 16.
Initially, he took time to adapt to the top level of football before showcasing his best during the 2024/25 campaign. In 44 appearances across all competitions, he scored 12 goals and registered 20 assists.
Having been impressed by his performances, Man City decided to purchase him last year. He enjoyed a productive debut campaign in the Premier League, making 26 goal contributions in all tournaments last term.
Cherki even helped his side win a couple of domestic cup competitions. This season, he has started the new season impressively, scoring four goals and notching up two assists in eight matches in all tournaments.
After proving his worth in club football, the youngster has secured his place in the France national team.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal initially expressed their interest in him last year, but he ultimately decided to move to the Etihad Stadium. However, he could leave Man City next year if they face a severe punishment such as relegation, having been found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations.
Cherki to Arsenal
Therefore, Arsenal are prepared to revive their interest in him if he becomes available. Moreover, Liverpool hold a long-standing interest in him and are prepared to make a move.
On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also registered their interest in him, with Parc des Princes most likely destination if he leaves.
Cherki still has a contract until 2030 and is valued at around £77m by Transfermarkt. Therefore, the Citizens are expected to demand a huge fee if they are forced to cash-in.
Cherki is a left-footed creative midfielder by trait but is also comfortable with his right foot. Moreover, he can provide cover on the right flank if needed.
He is a talented player and possesses the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the world. Therefore, Cherki would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
