Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Portuguese international winger Pedro Neto from Chelsea, according to CaughtOffside.
The Portuguese winger joined the Blues from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2024 and has made 106 appearances for the side, scoring 20 goals.
Neto joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024 after establishing himself as one of the most exciting wingers in the Premier League during his five years at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Since his arrival, he has made 106 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 19 assists in all competitions, and helped win the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last year.
However, despite being a pivotal member of the first team, particularly last season, where he provided 20 goal contributions in all competitions, there were swirling rumours that the winger could depart Stamford Bridge in the recently concluded summer transfer window.
It appears Neto has done enough to impress Xabi Alonso, who handed him his first start of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, where he impressed with a goal.
Still, Neto remains a subject of keen interest in the transfer market, with CaughtOffside claiming that Arsenal are interested in signing the 26-year-old.
Versatile forward
The report adds that Mikel Arteta is looking to add a versatile Premier League-proven winger to provide competition for Bukayo Saka on the flank.
While Chelsea view Neto as a valuable player in their squad, the London giants are open to selling him and have set a valuation between £60m and £68m amid interest from Arsenal, according to the report.
However, the Gunners are not alone in the race, as CaughtOffside adds that Manchester City have also shown interest in the Portuguese international as a possible option to provide depth to their frontline.
Christos Tzolis was the only attacking addition Arsenal made, while Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus were all allowed to leave the club. Ethan Nwaneri was also sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
On paper, those departures appear to leave Arteta’s side with a weaker attack than last season. Still, the manager insisted in his pre-Chelsea press conference that Arsenal had not taken a major risk.
He also revealed that the club’s transfer targets had been ‘100% ticked’, suggesting they achieved what they set out to do during the window, so it’ll be interesting to see whether they return in January to sign Neto.
