Arsenal in fierce battle to sign Stuttgart’s Finn Jeltsch

Arsenal are reportedly in a fierce battle to sign VfB Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch, as per Caught Offside.

The 20-year-old started his youth career at SV Raitersaich before joining FC Nurnberg’s youth system at the age of nine. After rising through their academy, he made his first team debut in 2023.

Having been impressed by his performances at Max-Morlock-Stadion, Die Schwaben decided to secure his services last year. He has mainly featured as a rotational option at MHP Arena; still, he has shown glimpses of his qualities.

In 37 appearances across all competitions, the youngster registered a solitary assist and kept eight clean sheets last season. He even helped his side qualify for this season’s Champions League.

He has enjoyed a bright start to this season, guiding his side to a 4-0 victory over Rostock in the DFB Pokal.

Now, Caught Offside state that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Jeltsch and have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.

However, they will have to overcome a fierce battle to finalise the operation, as Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus are also in this race. But Bayern Munich are showing the strongest interest in him.

Jeltsch to Arsenal

The report state that having recently joined Stuttgart, Jeltsch still has a contract until 2030. So, Stuttgart aren’t in any rush to sell him, and he doesn’t want to leave just yet as he is willing to continue his development at MHP Arena. He is even excited by the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta likes having versatile defenders and has signed Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapié, Jurrien Timber, Ben White and Ezri Konsa in recent years.

Jeltsch is also a versatile defender as he is comfortable in the centre-back and right-back positions. Moreover, he, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is comfortable with both feet.

The youngster, valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt, is a talented player and possesses high potential. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services this summer despite already signing Konsa.
