The Ox To Play For U-21’s This Week – Vermealen Out For Two Weeks
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been pencilled in to feature in Thursday’s Under-21 fixture against Fulham after returning to full training on Monday, according to the Telegraph.
The attacker has been on the sidelines for over four months since injuring his knee on the opening day of the season against Aston Villa.
However, after a gruelling rehabilitation programme, The Ox returned to full training on Monday and is now ready to step up his comeback by turning out for the under-21’s against Fulham on Thursday.
The news will come as a welcome boost to boss Arsene Wenger following the news that Theo Walcott will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, as Oxlade-Chamberlain is a viable replacement for him on the right wing.
While Theo’s season is over, there was slightly more positive news on Thomas Vermaelen – who also picked up a knee injury against Tottenham on Saturday.
The Telegraph claim the defender had a scan on his injury on Monday and should return to action within two weeks. It means the Belgian will miss our upcoming clash against Aston Villa but has a chance to return against Fulham on the 18th.
Can Oxlade-Chamberlain fill Theo’s boots? Or do we need to buy?
