Arsenal have reportedly explored the possibility of signing Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, as per Caught Offside.
After joining the Toffees from Olympique de Marseille a couple of years ago, the 26-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign, scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.
He showed glimpses of his qualities last campaign as well, making nine goal contributions in 34 matches in all competitions. Moreover, he helped his side finish in the Premier League’s mid-table.
After proving his worth in the English top-flight, Ndiaye has secured his place in the Senegal squad. Now, Caught Offside claim that after failing to purchase Vinicius Junior and Morgan Rogers, Arsenal have explored the possibility of signing Ndiaye.
However, the North London club could make a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
With Ndiaye’s existing deal set to run until 2029, the Merseyside club aren’t in any rush to sell him, but they could change their stance should they receive an offer of around £75m.
Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal made a move to sign Ndiaye this summer, but he has rejected the opportunity to move to the Middle East as he wants to stay in the Premier League.
Ndiaye to Arsenal
The report state that Arsenal will have to overcome stiff competition to sign the Everton star as Manchester United and Liverpool are also in this race.
Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool have all made direct contact with the player’s representatives over a potential move. However, considering the fierce rivalry between Liverpool and Everton, the Toffees might demand more than £75m from the Reds to let Ndiaye move to Anfield.
Arsenal have prioritised revamping the frontline this summer and have already purchased Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge after letting Leandro Trossard join Besiktas.
However, Mikel Arteta wants a new forward, and Ndiaye could be a shrewd acquisition as he is a Premier League-proven player. Moreover, he is a versatile forward and can play on either flank.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services this summer.
