Arsenal interested in signing Como star Jacobo Ramon

By on August 11, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Como star Jacobo Ramon, as per The Athletic.

Following William Saliba’s serious back injury, the Gunners have been left with Cristhian Mosquera as the only RCB option. Jurrien Timber and Ben White can also provide cover in this position if needed.

However, Mikel Arteta has mainly used the Dutchman and the Englishman as right-backs. On the other hand, Timber has been out injured over the last few months, while White has had fitness problems in recent years.

Now, The Athletic report that Arsenal are interested in reinforcing the right side of the defence in this window and have identified Ezri Konsa as a key target.

However, the valuation gap between the Villans and the North London club remains significant. Arsenal also admire Cristian Romero but Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of letting him join their arch-rival, with Atletico Madrid currently leading the race to sign him.

So, Arteta’s side have been forced to go deep into their wishlist, and the report state that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Ramon to bolster the backline.

Having joined Como from Real Madrid last summer, the Spaniard still has a contract until 2030. So, Cesc Fábregas’ side are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in, with the player valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt.

Ramon to Arsenal

Ramon is a 6ft 5in tall right-footed centre-back. He is technically sound, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, reads the game well, and is efficient in defensive contributions.

He showed glimpses of his qualities in his debut Serie A campaign last term, scoring two goals and keeping 15 clean sheets in 37 appearances across all competitions. Moreover, he helped his side qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Ramon is a highly talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in Arteta’s possession-based system. Therefore, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

The Emirates club are set to face Como in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night, giving Arteta a chance to watch him closely during the fixture.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether the North London club will eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services this summer.
