Arsenal eye move to sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo

By on August 4, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing LOSC Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, as per Caught Offside.

After joining Les Dogues from KAA Gent a couple of years ago, the 21-year-old initially took time to settle into his new surroundings before showing glimpses of his qualities last campaign.

In 41 appearances across all competitions, the youngster scored eight goals and registered six assists. Moreover, he helped his side qualify for next season’s Champions League by finishing third in Ligue 1.

After being impressed by his performances, Rudi Garcia selected Fernandez-Pardo for Belgium’s World Cup squad. However, he struggled to break into the starting line-up, failing to commence any game.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are interested in Fernandez-Pardo and have been monitoring his development closely. However, purchasing the forward won’t be straightforward as Chelsea and Liverpool are also in this race.

Like the Gunners, Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on his development, while Liverpool have identified Fernandez-Pardo as a potential alternative option in-case they fail to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola.

The Lille star isn’t the only alternative option on Andoni Iraola’s radar, as they are also interested in AFC Bournemouth star Rayan and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh.

Fernandez-Pardo to Arsenal

Fernandez-Pardo, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is a right-footed centre-forward by trait but is also comfortable on either flank. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and can finish off his chances.

Although Arsenal won the Premier League title last term, they are planning to reinforce several areas this summer. Following Leandro Trossard’s departure, they have purchased Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.

However, it has been suggested that the North London club want to add more firepower to the frontline, and Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has been heavily linked with a move.

So, perhaps, Arsenal are lining up Fernandez-Pardo as a potential alternative option if they fail to secure the Brazilian’s services.

The Belgian is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they eventually manage to purchase him.
