Arsenal set to sign Blackburn Rovers starlet Igor Tyjon
Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign highly rated England U18 international forward Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers this summer, according to Alan Nixon, as relayed by GIVEMESPORT.
He joined Blackburn from Rochdale’s ever-growing youth academy, which also produced Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Mateus Mane, and has impressed in the U18 and U21 ranks.
So far he has provided 17 goal contributions for the U-21s, with nine of those coming in the recently concluded season, including a brace against Reading in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup in March.
After making several matchday squads as an unused substitute, he was handed his first team debut on 14 September 2024, appearing as a second-half substitute in a 3–0 home win over Bristol City to become the Riversiders’ second-youngest debutant at just 16 years 05 months 25 days.
He has made two further appearances since then, against Sunderland in April 2025 and versus Bradford in the Carabao Cup back in August last year.
The youngster went on to make two more appearances, coming in the 1-0 win against Sunderland in April 2025 and the 2-1 loss to Bradford in the Carabao Cup last August.
‘Talented’ prospect
It appears Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on Tyjonn’s performances, as GIVEMESPORT, citing Alan Nixon, reports that the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign the centre-forward this summer.
The report adds that the Premier League champions are hopeful of reaching an agreement at a fee around £2m, including add-ons, for the England U18 international.
Tyjon’s contract at Ewood Park is set to run out next summer, and after rebuffing several contract extension offers, Blackburn are now set to let him leave, according to the report.
Described as ‘talented’ by Football Talent Scout, Jacek Kulig, Tyjon looks set to join an increasingly exciting list of young talents to have made the move to the Emirates in recent seasons, following the likes of Evan Mooney, Jaden Dixon, Elijah Upson and, most recently, Axel Donczew.
The club’s willingness to trust in youth was evident last season too, with Mikel Arteta handing senior debuts to several Hale End graduates, including Marli Solomon, Andre Harriman Annous, Ife Ibrahim, Brando Bailey-Joseph, Marli Salmon and Max Dowman, who all made their first-team debuts, with Dowman going on to become both the youngest player to appear in and score in Premier League history.
