Arsenal ‘in talks’ to sign LOSC Lille star Ayyoub Bouaddi
Arsenal are reportedly ‘in talks’ to sign LOSC Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, as per Football Insider.
Despite winning the Premier League trophy last term, the Gunners are planning to remain busy this summer to help Mikel Arteta defend the title next campaign.
They have already agreed on a deal to sign Illan Meslier to add depth to the goalkeeping department.
It has been widely documented that Arsenal are considering purchasing an elite left-winger, with Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers heavily linked with a move in recent weeks.
Moreover, the North London club are said to be keen on upgrading the centre-forward position as Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have struggled with fitness problems in recent years.
On the other hand, Viktor Gyokeres displayed inconsistent performances in his debut campaign in the Premier League. Atlético Madrid ace Julián Álvarez has been suggested as Arteta’s primary target.
Now, Football Insider state that Arsenal are also interested in signing a new midfielder and have identified Bouaddi as a serious option. They are already ‘in talks’ to finalise the operation.
However, the North London club will have to overcome fierce competition as Manchester City and Liverpool are also in this race and have made contact as well.
Bouaddi to Arsenal
Although Bouaddi’s existing deal is set to run until 2029, Lille are prepared to cash-in on him but want a ‘big’ fee, with the player valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt.
The Gunners decided to revamp the midfield department by purchasing Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi last summer. However, the Dane struggled to break into Arteta’s starting line-up, while the Spaniard displayed inconsistent performances.
Bouaddi is comfortable in the defensive midfield and box-to-box roles. He is a highly talented player and is considered one of the best young midfielders in the world.
The youngster, standing at 6ft 1in tall, possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League. He has even impressed for Morocco in the World Cup.
So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it remains to be seen whether the North London club will eventually manage to secure his services by defeating other clubs in this race.
