Arsenal plan to submit audacious bid to sign Morgan Rogers

By on July 9, 2026

Arsenal are preparing to submit a formal offer to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Arsenal are widely expected to be among the busiest clubs in this summer’s transfer window as they continue to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad following their Premier League title-winning campaign.

Arteta guided the Gunners to their first league title in 22 years, and the club are now intent on adding further quality as they look to retain the crown next season.

Several players have been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium in recent months, with Morgan Rogers consistently featuring among Arsenal’s primary attacking targets.

The Aston Villa forward enhanced his growing reputation last season, being named Player of the Tournament in the UEFA Europa League after inspiring Villa to their first major trophy since 1996.

Arsenal are now looking to step up their efforts, with TEAMtalk reporting that the north London club are preparing to submit a formal offer to Villa.

The Gunners have been working in the background for several weeks and are now set to take the next step by launching a bid, having made ‘significant progress’ on the player side during discussions with his camp, according to the report.

‘Significant progress’

Although Villa are demanding a fee in excess of £100m for Rogers, the Premier League champions are optimistic they can reach an agreement with the Europa League winners, TEAMtalk adds.

In addition, TEAMtalk reports that despite keen interest from Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, Arsenal are ‘leading the race’ ahead of their rivals and are ‘increasingly confident’ the Emirates is the Englishman’s preferred destination.

While there may be concerns about the prospects of regular playing time in an attacking midfield role that already includes Eberechi Eze and Martin Ødegaard, the latter is reportedly facing an uncertain future at the club.

There is also speculation that his strong World Cup showing could place him back into Arteta’s thoughts for next season.

Still, Rogers would be a good addition to the manager’s squad, as his versatility also makes him an option on the left wing, especially with Leandro Trossard nearing a departure.

With TEAMtalk reporting that Villa are demanding a Premier League record sale, it’ll be interesting to see whether Arsenal will break the bank to sign him, negotiate a fairer deal or consider alternative options.
