Arsenal make contact to sign Man City star Ruben Dias
Arsenal have reportedly made contact to sign Manchester City star Ruben Dias, as per a recent report.
Since moving to the Etihad Stadium from SL Benfica back in 2020, the 29-year-old has enjoyed great success, winning four Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and several other major cup competitions.
Having proven his worth in club football, Dias has established himself as an undisputed starter in the Portugal national team’s starting line-up. He helped his country reach the World Cup last-16 before losing to Spain.
Now, as per a recent report (via Caught Offside), Arsenal are interested in the former Benfica star and have already made contact to learn about the details of signing him.
Apart from the Gunners, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are also keen on him. Like the North London club, the Blues have also enquired about this deal.
However, Manchester City have no intention of letting Dias, valued at around £47m by Transfermarkt, leave, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
Dias, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is a right-footed centre-back. He is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, and is efficient in defensive contributions.
Dias to Arsenal
Arsenal currently have William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Cristhian Mosquera as options to deploy in the centre-back positions. Moreover, Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapié can provide cover in this position if needed.
So, the North London club are already well stocked in defence and don’t need to invest more to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves.
Nevertheless, Dias is a top-class Premier League proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually opt to purchase him.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to be keen on purchasing a new midfielder, left-winger, and centre-forward during this offseason. Bruno Guimarães and Ayyoub Bouaddi are the key targets for the midfield position, while Morgan Rogers is reportedly their primary left-wing option.
On the other hand, it has been suggested that Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez is Mikel Arteta’s main target to upgrade the No.9 department.
