Arsenal hold talks to sign Leverkusen’s Kerim Alajbegovic

By on July 1, 2026

Arsenal have reportedly made contact to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Kerim Alajbegovic, as per Football London.

The 18-year-old started his youth career at FC Koln before joining Die Werkself’s academy. Upon ranking through their youth system, he joined Red Bull Salzburg last summer without making his first team debut at the BayArena.

Alajbegovic enjoyed a promising debut campaign at Red Bull Arena, scoring 13 goals and registering four assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

Having shown glimpses of his qualities in club football, he has secured his place in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup squad, helping his country reach the knockout stage.

After being impressed by the youngster’s recent development, Leverkusen have decided to bring him back. Now, Football London state that Arsenal are considering upgrading the left flank and have identified Alajbegovic as a serious option.

Apart from the Bosnian, Mikel Arteta’s side are also interested in Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola and Christos Tzolis. On the other hand, Arsenal also want to upgrade the engine room, and Bruno Guimarães of Newcastle United is on their radar.

Arsenal sporting director, Andrea Berta, has been working on multiple deals simultaneously and has held talks with Alajbegovic’s representatives over a potential move this summer.

Alajbegovic to Arsenal

Having recently returned to BayArena, Alajbegovic still has a contract until 2031. So, the German side are in a strong position to demand a sizable amount of money if they are forced to cash-in on him this summer, with the player valued at around £19m by Transfermarkt.

Alajbegovic is a left-winger by trait but is also efficient on the opposite side. Furthermore, he can provide cover in the centre-forward position if needed.

He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, and also works hard without possession.

Alajbegovic is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this summer transfer window.
