Arsenal keen on signing PSG forward Bradley Barcola
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, as per transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.
Despite winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners are said to be planning to spend big money during this offseason to help Mikel Arteta continue challenging on all fronts next campaign.
The North London club are interested in signing a new midfielder following Christian Norgaard’s poor debut season. On the other hand, Martin Zubimendi enjoyed a promising start after joining from Real Sociedad, but he struggled to continue the momentum during the final few weeks of last term. Sandro Tonali, Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Mateus Fernandes have been linked with a move.
Moreover, Arsenal are interested in purchasing a new striker, as Gabriel Jesus’s future has been a subject of speculation this summer. Atlético Madrid star Julian Alvarez and AFC Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi are reportedly on Arteta’s wishlist.
On the other hand, Arsenal are considering revamping the left flank following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s inconsistent performances last term.
Now, on Givemesport, Jacobs states that the Gunners have identified Barcola as a key target, and the player is open to leaving PSG to play regularly and develop his career.
However, Les Parisiens have no intention of letting him leave and are planning to tie him down to a fresh long-term deal, with his existing deal set to run until 2028.
Barcola to Arsenal
But if PSG sign a new winger and fail to agree on a fresh term with Barcola, they might be open to cashing-in on him in this window.
The journalist claims that although Arsenal are prioritising signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, they are prepared to make a move for Barcola if he becomes available.
Jacobs said:
“Arsenal is a situation that’s worth keeping an eye on. I sense with Arsenal that Morgan Rogers is the player that they’re likely to prioritise for now, but if Barcola becomes genuinely available on the market, he’s on Arsenal’s list.”
Barcola, valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt, is a top-class player and could be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
