Arsenal ‘one step away’ from signing Jeremy Monga after submitting formal offer

Arsenal are ‘one step away’ from signing Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga this summer, according to Nicolo Schira

Following Leicester’s disappointing relegation to League One, the Foxes are expected to carry out a major squad overhaul, with several incomings and, in particular, outgoings.

Some players have already been released after their contracts expired, while others are attracting significant interest this summer.

One of the players heavily linked with a departure from the King Power Stadium is Monga, who has written himself in EFL Championship record books as the youngest debutant and goalscorer.

During Leicester’s 2024-25 Premier League campaign, in which they were relegated, he also set a Premier League record as the second-youngest player to debut, coming off the bench in the 3-0 loss to Newcastle United at 15 years and 271 days.

Following his return to the Championship, Monga, described as ‘fantastic’ by former Leicester coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, has continued to impress, sparking keen interest from Arsenal.

It appears a deal is now nearing completion as Schira reports that the left-winger is ‘one step away’ from signing for Arsenal.

‘Fantastic’ winger

The Italian journalist adds that the 16-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions and is keen on signing for them this summer.

In a separate report, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal are optimistic about completing the deal after submitting a formal offer to Leicester for his potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Despite primarily featuring on the right-hand side of the pitch, the teenager has shown he’s equally capable on the opposite flank while also offering an option in the number ten role behind the central striker.

At just 15, Monga, now valued at £13m by Transfermarkt, accumulated 112 minutes of Premier League football for Leicester City during the 2024-25 campaign before going on to make 27 appearances for the club in the Championship in 2025-26.

The numbers further paint a picture of a forward who relishes taking opponents on, with his attempted take-ons per 90 minutes averaging 7.8 across 1,088 minutes in all competitions.

He also completed 84.7% of his passes and made three key passes after successful dribbles, underscoring his ability to make effective decisions in possession despite his limited senior experience.

With a deal nearing completion, it will be interesting to see whether Monga will be part of the first team next season, sent to the academy, or sent out on loan.
