Arsenal ‘prepared to move quickly’ to sign Julian Alvarez

By on June 17, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly ‘prepared to move quickly’ to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, as per TEAMtalk.

The 26-year-old has been making headlines this transfer window due to his desire to leave the Spanish capital and take a new challenge in his career. However, Los Rojiblancos have no intention of letting him go, with his current contract running until 2030.

The forward is said to be preferring a move to Barcelona, and the Blaugrana previously made an attempt to seal the deal by launching a formal proposal worth around £86m. But Atlético Madrid rejected the offer and even mocked the reigning Spanish champions with a series of social media posts.

Barcelona haven’t returned with a second proposal since, but Real Madrid tried to purchase Alvarez by launching a whopping £130m proposal. However, Diego Simeone’s side turned down this bid as well.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are interested in Alvarez and remain firmly attentive to Alvarez’s situation, but he still prefers a move to the Catalan giants.

The Gunners are waiting in the background and are hoping that the player will change his stance. They are ‘prepared to move quickly’ if the forward indicates he is open to returning to the Premier League.

The North London club have been in contact with Atlético Madrid and the player’s representatives and are open to including players in a part-exchange deal to sign Alvarez.

Alvarez to Arsenal

Diego Simeone’s side likes Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, and Viktor Gyokeres. However, Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta are huge admirers of the Swedish international and have no intention of letting him leave this summer.

The report state that Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed their interest in the Argentinian international, so he isn’t short of potential suitors at the moment.

Alvarez has showcased his productivity in La Liga since joining from Manchester City a couple of years ago, making 29 goal contributions in 49 appearances across all competitions last term.

The 26-year-old is one of the best strikers in the world and previously proved his worth in the Premier League. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
